Godshill and nearby attractions

Royal Essex Cottage is at Godshill in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Stroll through fabulous countryside around Godshill and encounter baby lambs bounding over the fields and tiny piglets playing together. Admire fragrant wildflowers and breathe in the fresh country Isle of Wight air. After an exhilarating walk, what could be nicer than to pop in to our delightful tea rooms and enjoy one our delicious cream teas.

Royal Essex Cottage is in a lovely location close to Godshill church, which towers majestically above us. The story goes that the church was originally built at the bottom of the hill, but nobody could see it. Then, one day, it miraculously appeared at the top of the hill - hence the name Godshill!

Godshill village is a delight to walk around. Among the many interesting places to visit are the historic toy museum and, right next to Royal Essex Cottage, the famous model village, which beautifully recreates the whole of Godshill & Shanklin Old Village.
